Entrepreneur Returns to Madelia & Thanks Community for Helping Him to Rebuild

Hope and Faith Floral & Gifts is a popular downtown Madelia florist with over 20 years of floral design experience. This lovely shop owned by Ryan Visher, specializes in delivering courteous, professional service and the highest quality floral and gift items in the community. Their experienced designers can create floral arrangements that will complement any occasion and meet any budget and style expectations. They also offer daily delivery service to all local funeral homes and hospitals.

When Ryan was thinking of a name for his new business, he settled on Hope and Faith - the names of his two daughters. The name is fitting because “Hope and Faith” is exactly what he and his staff needed when their original storefront was destroyed in Madelia’s 2016 fire. Determined to rebuild, they relied on those virtues, and support from the community, to sustain the business. 

After more than a year in temporary spaces, Hope and Faith opened the doors to a fully refurbished and expanded storefront at the original location. Although the fire was such a distressing event for Ryan and his staff, he was overwhelmed by the support from the community. When it was time to move, neighbors and fellow business owners showed up with shopping carts to help Hope and Faith move merchandise from their temporary location into their new 7,800 square foot showroom in downtown Madelia.

In 2017 Ryan told The Journal, “I lived in Milwaukee for a while and moved back. The support of the community reaffirms my decision to return.”

It’s safe to say that Ryan made the right decision when he chose to return to Madelia to open his business. Although Hope and Faith’s building was destroyed by the fire they were able to rebuild because the Madelia community understands how important it is to support their local businesses. That is something incredibly unique to Madelia. The business leaders and people of Madelia know that Main Street is a popular destination for surrounding communities and they want to keep it that way. 

After the fire, “Madelia Strong” was the rallying cry heard throughout town and even in surrounding communities who also didn’t hesitate to offer help. By investing in rebuilding, Madelia reaffirmed their commitment to these businesses, knowing that the owners who were affected by this tragedy were their friends and neighbors. Thanks to donations, grants, and more, Hope and Faith and the rest of downtown Madelia has been restored to its original glory.

Now, several years on since the disaster, Hope and Faith is thriving. Their cheerful staff spend their busy days helping their customers choose everything from flowers and plants to home decor and gifts to candy and greeting cards. They pride themselves on the quality of their products and the artistry of their handiwork. Not only are there gifts available, but Ryan and his employees also offer their Annual Spruce Pot Workshop Series. These classes can be found on their Facebook page along with invitations to fun events like Sip & Shop and warehouse sales.

Ryan and his staff have created a space much like Madelia: unique, inviting, helpful, and friendly. It’s no wonder that Hope and Faith Floral & Gifts has literally risen from the ashes and taken its rightful place on Main Street as Madelia’s modern day General Store.
